What are the cons? waiting until a frost to pick
I have only ever made huckleberries into pie, but the secret for cooking them is to add a little baking soda to the cooking water after they have cooked for a bit. The water will foam up green as grass. Drain and rinse, then add fresh water and resume with the rest of the recipe: sugar, thickener, etc.
