What are the pros? Vigorous

What are the cons? Prickles

Review:

These are the first cucumbers I have tried to grow. They were easy to germinate and I planted out 2 in the garden. They managed to survive some blisteringly hot and dry weather with no ill effects. Once the hot, wet and humid weather arrived they took off. The trellis I put them on is woefully insufficient for their vigour and they are now spreading into other beds. They appear to be disease and pest free. The vines are covered in hundreds of flowers. The cucumbers themselves are very large and sturdy. And turn a lovely gold when ripe. However they are covered in fine black prickles which can make picking them a little awkward. I have learnt thought that These prickles are easily dealt with by rubbing them off with a cloth. The flavour is good and even the skin is not bitter, however it is slightly tough on the mature fruit so I tend to peel them for fresh use. This is not necessary if you are pickling them.

What are the pros? Easy, significant yields

What are the cons? Bitter

Review:

These are monster cukes which ripened from the sunny yellow in the product pic to a deep rustic orange. After making several batches of spiced pickles and eating in sour cream and dill salads,, I gave the extras to friends, set them out on the street for strangers, and still had more for the compost pile. I didn't expect such a bumper crop! Some became bitter, perhaps from the 100 temps here or from our watering schedule. They were still fun to grow and are absolutely beautiful, getting a lot of attention from people who wanted to know what they were.

Review:

Second year gardener here and have quite a few things from Baker's Creek growing :) These cucumbers took right off and have had no problems with them. They are a mild tasting cucumber and are very juicy. I've never seen such a juicy cuc before! My kids love them, they will be back next year!

What are the pros? great price, bountiful fruit

What are the cons? gave me heartburn after eating

Review:

Last year all my picklers died but not this cuke. I had enough cucumbers to make 2 gallons of fermented pickles and 16 quarts of heat processed pickles as well as a couple jars of relish and lots of salad enhancers! They had a lovely mild taste, I did notice that I seemed to get heartburn after eating them though. Overall they were a joy to grow and a great conversation starter due to their fat shape and unique milky color.
