What are the pros? Flavor, beautiful greens

What are the cons? nothing

Review:

I enjoyed this spinach very much. I sowed directly into a raised bed in my little greenhouse on my deck at the beginning of March. I've basically been able to harvest every couple of weeks since the first harvest which was about 3 and half weeks after I sowed. I prefer spinach on the smaller side so I haven't seen the leaves get too gigantic as the name suggests. Super tender and flavorful, gorgeous leaves. Noticed it was beginning to bolt as I was harvesting a few days ago but I think the cutting retarded it for a little longer. Would highly recommend this and I will definitely buy again for my fall/winter spinach where I am sure it will really shine.

What are the cons? Germination

Review:

I live in zone 7B and have grown this spinach and the Amsterdam Prickly through last winter and now most of the way through this winter. Last year I sowed the seeds in place under cover in late October. I also planted some seed in pots in a greenhouse to replace seeds that didn't germinate. I transplanted them at the end of November and they all took just fine. Had my first harvest by February. Last year was a "normal" winter for this area and I was able to harvest every three to four weeks. This winter I planter at the beginning of October. Winter started mild and had a harvest at Christmas time and another a couple of weeks later. Winter then went very cold in the mid-teens and snowy with plants and ground freezing. Today came a big thaw, I checked the plants and they have completely rebounded. With a mild streak I am confident that I will be able to harvest again in 3 weeks.

What are the pros? Sweet and easy to grow!

What are the cons? a little slow to mature

Review:

This is my favorite variety of spinach. It's has a sweet flavor and is very easy to graze on this plant while weeding. I started seeds in cold frames in early March in tiers and they produced well into June. Looking very forward to fall to get my spinach fix!

What are the pros? Very tasty, easy to grow

What are the cons? Bolts quickly in summer

Review:

This is my first year with a real garden, and I have 3 types of salad greens growing to harvest when they are small: Red Russian kale, Red Romaine (from here), and this spinach. The spinach grew really quickly, and I started harvesting right away. It kept great in the fridge, and made for lots of delicious salads. This year, we've had a really early summer in Washington state. After about a week of long, hot days, the spinach bolted. Everything else is growing like normal, but the spinach couldn't handle the heat. That seems obvious, especially with a name like "Giant of the Winter," but, you know, I'm new to this. :) Will definitely grow again, but I think I'll find a different variety for my spring/summer garden. At least I get to plant the Rocky Top lettuce mix now...

What are the pros? Spinach

What are the cons? No Spinach

Review:

Germinated better for me than Bloomsdale Longstanding and many expensive hybrids which I have tried and slightly better than Giant Noble planted at the same time. Vigorous, large leaves. Holds well.
