75 days. Semi-determinate. Intriguing long-keeping variety from Russia. 2- to 4- ounce round fruits are meaty with a red interior and skin that changes from green to yellow as the fruit ripens in storage. Vine-ripened fruits eventually reach a unique orange color. Reportedly keeps up to 5 months! Originally bred at the Timirjazev Agricultural Academy, Russia.

What are the pros? Extremely Long Keeper

What are the cons? Short on Flavor

Review:

Every year we grow one or two varieties of tomatoes to experiment with and Giraffe was one of the ones we chose for 2014. For starters, this was easy for us to grow in Montana and was a very decent producer of golf ball sized fruit. Perhaps it likes our cooler nights. We have never seen anything that keeps like this. It's nearly March and we still have a full flat of these left. It has a slightly thicker skin which may contribute to is longevity. They aren't the most flavorful but their slightly tangy taste is okay in the dark days of winter. If you want to be able to eat tomatoes from your garden in late winter and early spring this is worth a try. But know that it isn't the most tasty. That being said, it's taste rivals what you typically find in the market during winter.

Though the plant set plenty of fruit, they all either cracked and rotted on the vine, or rotted in storage before ripening.

Review:

In my experiment I kept it till the New Year, next new year!! So actually it stored for 15 months, which was partially at room temp and partially in the cellar. Though these long-storage tomatoes do not taste as good as fresh ones.
