What are the cons? corn smut fungus
I planted Baker Creek Golden Bantam in two locations a quarter mile apart and both locations produced corn smut, the first I have ever seen in 20 years of growing both heirloom and hybrid sweet corn in Santa Rosa. Two other varieties had none. This makes me think the variety is highly susceptible or the seed is infected with the fungus. I ate some of the fungus Mexican style (huitlacoche)but it is not worth the trouble. I do not recommend this seed.
