92 days A honeydew melon with a brilliant, gold rind and delicious green flesh; unique flavor. Two weeks earlier than regular Honeydew; excellent yields. Will rarely sunburn; a great keeper, unique and rare!

Review:

In Hawaii we have lots of problems (slugs, melon flies, rats, too much rain) growing cucurbits, so this melon has been great. This year we planted 6-7 varieties of watermelons and cantaloupes, this by far was the fastest bearing of any. The size is only 1.5-2.5 lbs so far, but some others coming on may be over 3 lbs. The vines only spread 4-5 ft, and at least 2 honeydews/vine are coming off. I may be picking slightly too soon, but because it has been so wet some are cracking on the bottom. Our honeydews may be so small because we are basically growing them on cinder soil and I have not put any compost on this year. There is very little information regarding this variety available as to its size at ripeness, but it seems to be ripe when it gets a dark yellow as the first commentator noted. No insect pests or mildew have gotten it, but slugs did take a few young plants. Germination rates from Baker Creek for the Golden Honeymoon was 100%. The kids love the taste! We will plant again

Review:

Gorgeous bright gold melon with amazing flavor -- sweet, rich, perfumed. People swoon over this one. It's a little tricky to tell when it's ripe because it doesn't slip from the vine. What I watch for is the skin turning a deeper and deeper gold, then starting to show a few white streaks. While it doesn't slip from the vine, when it's ripe it will generally separate better than when it's immature, but that isn't a sure thing. I've had overripe ones that have stubbornly clung to the vine. It takes a couple more weeks than some other melons, but is worth it. Definitely on my must grow every year list.
