80 days. Unique, beautiful and large tomatoes that have a squat, pear shape, being ribbed and pleated. These have a bloody, intense red color when ripe. Thick, red flesh is perfect for delicious sauces and preserves. Found at a Roadside stand in Italy, by Amy Goldman and named after her father's grocery store in Brooklyn. This variety has good flavor, fresh or canned.

What are the pros? Taste size

What are the cons? not much

Review:

These were wonderful. Large (most were around a pound and I had a couple at 1 1/2 lbs.) and very meaty. what truly boggled was the flavor. A rich flavor that just intensified with cooking. I canned roasted tomatoes and salsa. I'll definitely plant these again. My only complaint was they seemed to attract shield bugs leaving the latter part of the harvest with yellow speckled skins. They were fine for use after skinning. Delicious.

I grew these last year in soil I had amended with dried molasses (a dairy cow fodder) The fruits were plentiful and most were gigantic (bigger than a softball) with a great taste. I pureed over 20 quarts and froze for adding to my sauces over the winter. When I finally took out the plant after thanksgiving it had grown to shrub size and had to be cut out of the ground. Awesome.

Review:

Tried these this year, along with Polish Liguisa, for canning. I only can tomatoes, I can't eat them raw. But..........according to my neighbor, they had great flavor. They didn't produce as much as the Polish, and were more prone to insect attack also. But they do make a killer fried green tomato!

I grew these a few years ago and was impressed with the taste and the fact that they were so heavy and dense! The name of the tomato then was "Liguria". Grow these and you won't be sorry!

A tomato that has great flavor! Perfect for sandwiches and just plain eating! The vines yeilded a lot for me. Great tomato to impress your friends and family.
