Very rare, Missouri heirloom is larger than the standard Blackeye pea. The peas are named for their “green-colored eye” on each seed. We have finally procured some seed for this great variety.

Review:

plants grew to a nice size from direct seeding and 100% germination in Appalachian region, I picked them just before they started to dry out and boiled them fresh in just some salted water. They were a little smaller than most black eyed peas I've come across, but the flavor was great and we didn't have too many plants so shelling wasn't a huge issue.

Review:

I'm just now harvesting my first batch and unfortunately they are amazingly small. I'm not sure if I did something wrong. They're cute but not real productive for all the shelling one has to do to get a bean that is about a third the size of a standard black-eyed pea. I think I will go with another variety considering how much work it will take to get a pound of these peas from the garden to the stove. They sure are pretty though.

Review:

We have grown these cow peas in our gardens for years. They are delicious and have a very mild flavor. Freeze well. Be sure you have plenty of room for the plants to spread out though!! They can really take over the garden space. You won't be disappointed with this one.
