A delicious Italian variety with 2-lb, bright apple-green heads that are superb cooked or raw in salads. Very attractive, vigorous plants, fairly early.

What are the pros? Taste, predictability

What are the cons? small heads

Review:

I have been growing Green Macerata for 3 years and it has never failed to produce, even when all my other brassicas failed. The heads are not as big as other varieties, but they are tender and have a nice flavor and a pretty, lime color. This is easily my favorite cauliflower and will continue to be a standard in my gardens.

Review:

This cauliflower is a beast! I planted for fall in late July in Western Washington and boy did the plants get huge fast. I amended my rocky hard soil with rabbit poo and egg shells. These plants are hardy - I was even able to transplant my largest thinnings with no problem at all. All my plants have heads on them in various stages of growth and I have already eaten two. Absolutely delicious. Turn a bright lime green when steamed and pale a bit when roasted (how I like them best). Both heads weighed about 2.5 pounds. I was shocked how quickly the heads matured once they started - Incredible. This cauliflower is a new staple in my garden. I look forward to trying other varieties.

Review:

I planted this in spring as soon as the ground was able to be worked I live in north Colorado zone 5. I had plants that shot out of the ground and soon became as High as my hip but it did not flower. Spring turned into summer. Our summer was a hot one this year with severe drought conditions. I kept the plant watered as best as I could. It's now oct. 1st and fall is in the air and last night I noticed 3 big heads starting to form. Yay!! I have not eaten it yet but it looks delish.
