What are the pros? Easy to grow

I planted this over two years ago in a bed with a bunch of lettuce, spinach and Asian greens. When the weather turned warm (April 2013), I harvested everything except the chicory. It was still going strong so I just left it alone, literally. Since then, I have only watered it a couple of times. It has survived two hot Texas summers, an ice storm, several freezes and two hail storms. Now (July 2015), it has put up a flower stalk with a couple of blooms, but the lower leaves are still tender and edible. They're tasty in salads. I'm definitely impressed!
