This antique variety dates back to 1870 and has recently become popular again. It is quite unique with its yellow-and-red-striped flowers that are both charming and flashy. It makes a good cut flower, too!

What are the pros? It's tall

What are the cons? Not many flowers

Review:

This is a strong grower, and a tall plant, but there aren't many flowers. Lots of greenery, if you like marigold leaves...

Review:

these marigolds are the hugest things i've ever seen.. I have 6ft plants that were planted the end of april and are just getting ready to bloom. They are full and beautiful and loaded with buds.... I interplanted them in my garden .. lol.. and they've repelled the pests but didn't expect these huge things.. they are holding up my tomato plants.. :) I think theyre a keeper.

What are the pros? Effortless, lots of flowers

What are the cons? Top heavy, break in high winds

Review:

Today is October 11th and my plants are still loaded with flowers. We had a super dry summer with a few episodes of high winds, causing these 3.5' tall plants to break off and fall over. I was so upset, but was shocked a week or so later when the branches that were lying on ground sprouted roots and started growing as new plants, bigger and stronger as if no damage had ever been done! Baker Seeds' description warns that these marigolds get huge, but "huge" doesn't seem adequate to describe their size in comparison to "normal" marigolds! They were planted in awful clay soil, got very little water most of the summer, but they're like the EverReady Flowers, let me tell ya. I have been collecting seeds from each spent flower; I will probably have in excess of 10K seeds when these Little Shop of Horrors wanna-bes are done for the year. They're pretty, they're enormous, and they'll need to be staked.

What are the pros? Gorgeous

What are the cons? Hard to germinate

Review:

When I was finally able to get some of my seeds to germinate last year, it was worth the effort. I'm having trouble again this year (same pAck of seeds, but I'm determined to get at least one plant because they're so unique and such large plants when they finally get going. Also, I planted several types of marigolds last year and they all kept pollenating each other and my harlequin ended up with different blooms on the same plant. It was awesome. Love them.

What are the pros?

What are the cons?

Review:

This is a lovely marigold that in warm conditions and fertile soil will look practically like a bush. In masses it can look like a hedge. Highly recommended.
