The fruits are white to pale green, turning golden-orange as they ripen. A very productive and tasty variety that stays mild even when large. This heirloom was collected from a Hmong immigrant. Millions of the Hmong tribe live on the borders of Thailand, China, Burma, Laos and Vietnam, and are a very ancient people.

What are the pros? Heat resistant-very productive

What are the cons? None

Review:

Seeds started easily, and the plant is doing wonderfully in my hydroponic / aeroponic tower garden. This is my first time growing these, and first time using aeroponics. Wasn't sure about the heirlooms doing well without soil, but these are doing remarkably well. Tons of blossoms, lots of cucumbers coming. I am very anxious to see the end result! So far, so good!

What are the pros? Easy to start, productive

What are the cons? Takes time to mature

Review:

Just got these seeds for the first time this year and was very excited to get them growing. As advertised these beauties do not disappoint. Easy to start, hardy and productive. Just harvested my first Red today and have many more on the plants with months of production ahead! Yes! As for the taste, amazing! Harvested my first ever Hmong Red (approx. 10 in. long 6 in wide with yellow with orange speckling) and had it for breakfast with a little sugar as recommended by the prior reviews. Wow is all I can say! Full of water the flesh starts to break down when sugar is added yet stays somewhat crunchy turning the Red into something totally it's own. I highly recommend this variety for its versatility and flavor.

What are the pros? tastes great hardy, refreshing

What are the cons? none

Review:

Being Hmong, We grew up with these. They are great on hit summer day. They are split in half, seeds scraped out and then scrape witha spoon into a bowl with sugar sprinkled on top. You can also do this when they are ripe and yellow but best before over riped

What are the pros? Very easy to grow

What are the cons? Knowing when to pick

Review:

My boys and I planted 4 seeds late March. These started growing right away. Not many fruit flowers until late summer. I had surgery and no one really watered, weeded, or tended the garden at all. Only had one variety of tomato survive on its own (sunburst, little orange ones), the American Pineapple Melon, and this Hmong Cucumber. You do have to catch it just right when you pick it. Too soon or too late and it is really bitter. When you find the right size/color they are wonderful.
