What are the pros? Hardiness, taste

What are the cons? None

Review:

These are a wonderful old variety of cuc's. Fairly resistant to disease and prolific producers. I direct sow into raised beds and go vertical Tasty, non bitter cuc that sells like hotcakes at Market. They have earned a permanent place in my Market Garden. Try them you will not be disappointed!

This is the first season I have tried these. I so far am impressed. Iam Growing only 2 varieties of cucs this year. The J. D. and Dragons egg. The J.D. Has really good vining growth, so I am trellising it. That seems to be doing great, because I can see all the flowers and Fruit on it. And boy does it have fruit! I will be harvesting the first cuc Off of it soon , man is it huge! I am eager to taste them, I'm hoping It is as described. I will do a post after I try it. I am impresessed with the growth of this cucumber I guess this cucumber likes our weather here in Ca.

I have been growing heirlooms for years. The vines started out great & then disease set in. I have been able to get a couple cucumbers. First two developed well but flavor was slightly bitter. All the smaller ones that are on the very damaged vines right now are malformed. Lemon Apples are still my favorite along with the Early Russian.

I planted and got large leaves, few fruit though. Weighing abour 2 and 1/2 pounds each. They never changed colors. Large green bumpy and bitter. Better luck with the Sikkim which grew beautifly.

Review:

I attribute most of the failure to the strange weather we had this last year. But when the vines finally grew a bit the fruit was very bitter and only a few had a decent shape to them. Disappointed think I will try a different variety.. I did start them indoors and planted them in raised bed. Soil was what it should of been at least I thought it was. cabbages grew before them beautifully.
