60-70 days. Dark green fruit have beautiful rosy red-colored flesh that is extra flavorful, crisp and sweet. This is an icebox type melon with small to medium-sized fruit that are produced in abundance on healthy vines. This is a Russian variety from Katanya, a Russian woman who lives in Northern Illinois. Fairly early, and one of the best smaller melons we have tasted.

What are the pros? Good taste

What are the cons? Very small fruit

Review:

The plants were started indoors, then transplanted to the garden. I grew four plants, and they all produced several fruits. However, most of the watermelons never got bigger than a penny, and the ones that did never got bigger than a tennis ball. I did eat a few (I managed to scrape out a bit with a spoon, and they were quite tasty.

I generally don't plant the same plant twice because they're so many types to try however this has become one of my favorites. This melon was so crisp and sweet that all we had to do was tap it and it burst open. Very sweet, wonderful flavor..one of my favorites.

Review:

Powdery mildew covered every cucurbit in my garden last year. This remained untouched and productive. Not to mention sweet and juicy!
