What are the pros? Easy to grow, sturdy

What are the cons? Didn't know I was planting it

Review:

I'm not even sure how these ended up in my garden, unless they hitched a ride in an envelope of something else from my order! Needless to say, I didn't freeze the seeds because I didn't even know I had them. These plants are huge - 7feet and up, and taking over the place! The stalks are sturdy and bamboo-like. Best thing I've had from them so far is they are so sturdy that they've helped support my Chinese red noodle beans and my tomatoes that have overgrown their lattices. Worst part is they seem to be way too popular with wasps.

What are the pros? Pictures are so beautiful!!

What are the cons? Won't grow!!

Review:

I have tried everything with these seeds. Froze them, refrigerated them, start them hydroponically, in pots, direct sow, indoor and outdoor, in spring, summer and fall here in florida. Nothing works. Will not sprout. Any suggestions? I really want them to grow!!

What are the cons? preping seed to germinate

Review:

To germinate I soak 24 hrs then score each seed with a box knife, Be very careful. Tedious but I think it is worth it.

What are the pros? birds adored these

What are the cons? not hardy

Review:

I planted them in late winter and only had one that managed to arrive into summer, it was lonely but the birds did love it! I froze them for a week in the freezer and planted them, the seedling popped up very promising and then all of them abruptly died but one . . . won't buy again, I don't think my area is to there liking. Beautiful plant though!

Can grow in standing water.

What are the pros? Tall, great cut flower

What are the cons? A little hard to start

Review:

This is a favorite of mine. It can get very tall - sort of in the name! But you can trim it to any height. One thing that is not mentioned, is that it's a wetland plants - though it does just fine in ordinary conditions and can even tolerate some drought, it will grow in standing water. This can make a great waterside plant for ponds or bog gardens. Excellent cut flowers too. Once it starts to bloom, it keeps going to a very hard frost.
