What are the pros? germinates pretty easily

What are the cons? none

Review:

If grown in container, choose nice deep pot for beautiful foliage. I grew in tall and low pot. The low pot didn't grow taller than a foot; not a dramatic look.

What are the cons? roots slow to thicken

Review:

This lemongrass is excellent for cooking and home-made teas but for the former, at least in my experience, it takes some time. The seed sprouted quickly and evenly. I was able to transplant stalks from the original planting after a few months and develop clusters around my garden (all are in raised beds). They do quite well in full-sun, with regular applications of compost. They tend to do better when the soil is wet (but not soaking). They recover quickly from being trimmed. The leaves, fresh or dried, are excellent. But in terms of the root, I'm only now able to harvest for cooking some ten months after planting. Yet the flavor is truly superb and beats the pants off the stuff I find at my local Asian market. Overwintering here in Phoenix hasn't been a problem. They survived seven or eight freezes last winter (without any covering) and took no damage. This is definitely a worthwhile perennial.

What are the pros? Easy to grow

What are the cons? Haven't come across any yet...

Review:

Impressed that Baker Creek seeds carried lemongrass seeds. We're surprisingly easy to germinate and are growing well here in Northern Vermont. Plants are quite large and vigorous (mid August), smell delicious, and have no pests. Have been harvesting leaves to dry periodically.

Review:

I have never seen lemongrass let alone grow any. I instantly fell in love with this wonderful plant. Beautiful tall leaves that flutter in the breeze adds an elegance and grace to my deck. I will definitely be growing this plant for years to come.
