What are the pros? Easy to grow, little yield

What are the cons? TINY carrots with little yield

Review:

Planted October 2014, still growing but only have yielded one dinner's worth the entire season. Won't plant again.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, ok in heavy soil

What are the cons? Tasted a little soapy

Review:

This is the best crop I've planted in my 4 year gardening career. Every single time I went out to the garden this summer (basically every day), my toddler insisted on digging one or two of these up and eating them after a quick rinse with the hose. I didn't even plant a very large area, but it kept my family of 4 in carrots all summer and fall. I hadn't thought carrots would do to well in our heavy Washington soil, but these did just fine. Some of the more firmly rooted ones needed to be excavated rather than pulled, otherwise they would snap off. And a few of them branched into two near the end. They were all nice and tender, though, and the whole family enjoyed them. My only complaint is that they tasted a little soapy, but that may be the growing conditions.

What are the pros? easy to grow

What are the cons?

Review:

These have done well in my raised beds outside of Washington DC. However, they are growing into some strange shapes and often have multiple roots growing down, many of them have tipped over and grown at an angle. One grew down for about 3" then curved up and back around itself for more than a full time around! I can't imagine what it bumped into as the soil is all added - compost, vermiculite and peat and is deeper than the carrot! They are sweet. This is my first year with them and I'm just a home gardener learning year by year, so my results may be something to do with my unique style!

What are the pros? Easy, tasty

What are the cons? None

Review:

This is my first successful year with carrots. We have HEAVY clay soil and have been ammending for several years. This year, the carrots just took off. I had some older seed that I wasn't sure of, planted them anyways and they have covered the ground under my snow peas. I interplanted with radishes and apparently planted WAY too thickly. Plus side is, we've been eating tiny carrots for a month now. I started thinning approx 4 weeks after planting. I thin every single day now and the carrots just get bigger and bigger. I had my first 6" yesterday. Very tasty, sweet carrot flavor. No pests thus far.

What are the pros? tast grate

What are the cons? can't get more seeds

Review:

We have planted them twice and have had good luck. All the people at our farmers market want all that we can grow. We have a black loam type of soil and have added compost to it. They will grow to about 10" long and about 1/2" in diameter. If you have a heavy or tight soil you will not like these. They are too thin and brake easily. I grow 4 kinds of carrots and these are our favorite.
