75-80 days. Rather early type as you might expect from this variety that we received from the former Soviet Union. The very pretty fruits are oval to nearly round, run to 5 inches across, although most are more like 3 inches. Color is purple with white markings. The flavor is very mild. Productive plants are good-sized, to about three feet, and nearly free of spines. This seed was grown out by our own Sasha Gettle in conjunction with her grandfather!

What are the pros? Grows relatively quickly

What are the cons? Bitterness

Review:

this grew very well in our climate. The time to pick it is problematic. if you wait until it is the "correct size" it can be bitter. If you pick young and don't cook within 2 days it starts turning yellow and bitter. Recommend picking very small (a few bites basically). I'm going to move to another variety next season.

What are the pros? Small, pink, resistant!

What are the cons? none

Review:

These are growing next to my Japanese Pickling. They survived being submerged in flood waters, multiple frosts, etc, and are disease free. I have tens of thousands of pests from the climate conditions but the stink bugs and caterpillars only slightly attack the plants. I will be planting a lot more to replace other crops!

What are the pros? Easy to grow, high production

What are the cons? Prickly plant

Review:

I never grew eggplant before, and this was my first one. Plants grew strong and healthy. They were loaded with eggplants right till the frost came. I had to pick the rest of the eggplants the day before the frost. They required no soaking to get the bitterness out. In fact, no bitterness at all. The eggplant is so pretty. It is very hard to grow some vegetables in my garden. My soil has plenty of organic material and I have been working it for years. But some vegetable just do not like my mountain soil and climate. This plant loved it. I will be buying more seeds this year. Of course I start the seeds indoors and plant when it stays warm. The only bad thing about the plant is the spikes coming out of the plant and near the eggplant. Ouch! I guess that is just the way eggplant is.

My first attempt at eggplant. The only thing i would do different is start a little earlier and put it in the sunniest part of my garden. Very happy with them!

What are the pros? Not bitter, cooks well

What are the cons? None

Review:

These seeds were started early, planted late, and planted too close together in a pop-up greenhouse. The plants had pretty purple flowers on them that I tapped gently to help them pollinate. So far I have harvested three good-sized eggplants and have two more ripening from two plants. The white and purple coloring is pretty and they tasted great in Eggplant parmesan. Thank you for growing out these seeds.
