Long Milky Way - Moon and Stars Watermelon

95 days. Brilliant red, sweet and crisp, this elongated variety of the famous "Moon and Stars" is among the best of its type. The 30-lb. fruit are more narrow in shape, and the rind is dark green with golden-yellow moons and small, yellow stars. This fun variety was developed by our friend, Glenn Drowns, of the Sand Hill Preservation Center.

Review:

I am new to growing melons and did not research prior to planting. Big mistake. Dispute doing everything wrong, we managed to get some melons. I have eaten many home grown and Farmer's Market melons. These were the sweetest, most full- bodied watermelon flavored melons my family and I have ever eaten. The flesh is nice and crisp and very juicy. Our melons were not large, but I think that reflected our bad growing practices.

Review:

It's juicy, sweet, and flavorful, everything you want in a good watermelon. The seeds are quite large. What I really like about it is the texture. It's one of those really firm, crunchy watermelons that you can sink your teeth into. I like it a lot!
