Wild Flowers

Maltese Cross - Wildflower

(Lychnis chalcedonica) Large 3-4-foot tall spikes produce stunning neon flame-red colored clusters of blooms. This perennial often blooms the first year, if started very early. Was grown by Thomas Jefferson in 1807, and it still is one of the showiest flowers of early summer!
