What are the pros? Requires NO care
What are the cons? Rough underside of leaf
I've grown it now for 2 years now. It is the BEST! Here in Central Texas, it sprouted on an exposed berm and has come back. This year, I plant to make some Green Smoothies along with "Wild Amaranth Quiche" (recipe online). The underside of the leaf is a bit rough for what we expect for greens. OUTSTANDING when it's cooked. Best part about this variety is that it doesn't need watering and comes back on its own. For drought laden areas, this is an ideal green for summer. I can't speak for the other varieties. You can't go wrong with this one!
