What are the pros? Good flavor, beautiful color

What are the cons? None

Review:

I barely gave this lettuce a chance to grow. I started building my veggie beds in my new home, only to have flooding rains start. After several weeks of rain, I almost gave up on planting a garden for the season. My toddler begged me to play with the seeds and let him dig. So we took these out and planted them in what will one day be my raised bed garden. They didn't care about the abuse (either from the soil, the lack of irrigation, or the fact that a toddler planted them). In my 3 foot row, after thinning, I have 6-8 beautiful heads of dark red lettuce growing. They have great flavor.

What are the pros? Easiest to grow, beautiful

What are the cons? It's too much

Review:

Seed planted in Nov at around 28?C then covered it with plastic when temperature dropped to prevent frost damage.Plant vigor is great.Kept tunnels closed which caused a fungal problem owing to excess moisture, but upon tunnel opening & anti fungal spray, the problem disappeared. There are too many plants and I do not know how to harvest them. Would it be the entire plant or just the center or just outer leaves? But seriously, there are so many of them.I applied FYM & side dressed with compost & FYM.Applied little Urea (46%N).Growth, vigor & colors are a plus with this variety.

What are the pros? Beautiful color

What are the cons? Bolts in the heat

Review:

This was my first year growing lettuce, so I didn't let enough time for this to really start growing before the heat really took off. But in the limited time I had, this lettuce produced light green leaves with lovely splashes of deep purplish/pink. The taste is great too! So much more tender and delicate than store-bought lettuce! I hope to try this again someday in a colder season!

What are the pros? Best of nine (9)

What are the cons? none

Review:

Huge packet of seeds, first to germinate and bursts into action. Amazing dark red heads of delicious buttercrunch in full sun and dark green with tinged edges in part shade. Really dominates out of the 9 different lettuces I have this year. Was great as baby leaves early in the cold spring of Vermont and is giving me perfect heads coming up on the 4th of July. Will grow this every year. Absolutely consider this a gem.

What are the pros? beauty and flavor

What are the cons? 6a summers not ideal

Review:

Too beautiful not to grow. I've grown this a couple of years now and besides beauty, it is a good producer. The large loose heads do better in cooler weather, but I did get some from my June and July plantings by using a canvas(cheese cloth) covered bed and starting the seeds indoors where it's cooler ;) and out of summer pests' reach. For fall I'm using row hoops with light weight Agri-bon. Taste is rich, but not overpowering.
