What are the pros? Tasty
What are the cons? Slug magnet
This is a classic Chinese cabbage. It gets to about 2' tall, and wide, so plant 2' apart. It needs lots of water and protection from pests, and even then is a slug magnet. I took the leaves apart and had to wash off many slugs. Ugh. It is also not a good keeper, so succession plant so you don't have a glut.
Oh, and it gets some sort of black mold on some of the leaves sometimes.
It's just more finicky than other greens, such as tatsoi. Grow it if you want something to pamper a bit, if slugs don't bother you, and if you want lots of the classic, delicious Chinese cabbage taste for a week or two in October.
