Miniature Iranian Fig, (Ficus carica)
This wild Iranian fig is small in size but very flavorful. Figs are actually quite easy to grow from seeds and can come into bearing in as little as 4 or 5 years. This particular fig should do very well in the Southwest, but one can experiment. Figs generally need warmer winter temperatures. North of zone 7 it should be very protected from the cold by wrapping, or better yet, grown in a large pot and taken in during the harsh winter months.
