45 days. Here's a different sort of mizuna: wide, very flat, ornately fringed leaves in clear bright green. Grows best in cooler weather, like other mizunas. Elegant in their own right, breathtaking when combined with Red Streaks mizuna. Makes micro-greens at 25 days.

What are the pros? Great taste, slugs don't like

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

This mizuna, along with the red streaks mizuna, has become a favorite for us. We love the taste of the leaves in our salads, and when they get larger they can be sauteed. This mizuna is spicier than the red streaks variety, but it adds a nice flavor to our salads. While the slugs were munching away at our lettuce this year (thanks to the crazy rainy weather we had), the mizuna held its own. I guess our slugs are picky and don't care for mizuna! We disagree with the slugs though - we love it!

What are the pros? Pretty, tasty, easy

What are the cons? Don't eat when it's old!

Review:

These were a cinch to grow, and from the time they were very small they tolerated harvesting of a few leaves here and there, which are all you need to add to a salad for a bit of kick. Very decorative also. I left my plants to overwinter (not much freezing here), and they grew to towering height with a massive bulbous root. Quite dramatic and utterly inedible, as the leaves became far too potent! I am growing these now for the second season, with equally satisfying results, and gave half a packet to my neighbor so he could give them a try.

Review:

I love this stuff. It should be on every sandwich made on earth. It has a sharp taste of horseradish, I love the spikey leaves, and it is just beautiful. We didn't do super well with it in containers on the front porch (mostly shaded), but it and the Red Streaks Mizuna have taken over a raised bed of salad greens. By the way, mizuna is actually a Brassica. Go figure. I think ours is about 18" high or so, and it is now starting to bolt. The microgreens from this stuff are also very tasty.
