90-95 days. Rare, this is the yellow-meated strain of this fine heirloom; these are very delicious and have beautiful, yellow-orange meat that is very sweet. The large fruit can grow to 40 lbs, and they have large, yellow "Moons and Stars" covering their nearly black rinds. Our favorite variety of the planetary watermelons, it was a real favorite at our 2004 "Heirloom Garden Show". A great variety for farmers' markets

What are the pros? VERY TASTY.

What are the cons? Can't think of any

Review:

Wanted to try something different. Yellow spots, yellow melon, and very dark green skin. It was all of that. Even the leaves had yellow spots on them. It was enjoyable to watch grow. The best part was having my 11 year old grandson and his friend pick the melon and both carrying it into the house, splitting it open and discovering it was yellow inside. The next day I shared some at my office and ALL were surprised at how sweet it tasted. The melon will be in my garden again next year.

Review:

We found that these melons ripened over a several week span, which makes it a good choice for backyard gardeners, and a little more of a hassle for us market gardeners. Flavor was best when left in the field for one week after the tendril was completely dead and flesh is brightly colored, almost orange. Love the colors inside and out! Stood up better to wilt and end rot than other varieties we grew.
