The very tender, white roots are cylindrical, 5"-6" long and 2" wide with a mild and sweet flavor. This old French heirloom was one of the most popular varieties grown by French market growers in the late 1800s. Imported European seed.

What are the pros? germinates readily large size

What are the cons? none

Review:

I have a small acreage old-fashioned diverse biointensive veg farm. This turnip was one of the standouts for me this spring. The roots grew large although they take a while to mature. Most of the spring turnips I planted bolted before they reach a decent size this one did not. I can't wait to grow more of it in fall. A real winner also the flavor is fantastic more earthy than your typical purple top ariel winner also the flavor is fantastic more earth see then your typical purple talk

Review:

This year is the first time I tried this turnip. I usually grow Japanese varieties. This one is a gem, tolerant of the extreme heat (with additional watering) and stayed sweet while the Tokyo Market became a hot firecracker. Flavor is a bit more complex (which I love) and sweet.

Review:

I have only tasted one variety of turnip here, and never grown turnip before, this one was so sweet and absolutely delicious. Grew well here in Australia. I am going to try more varities next year.
