90 days. A wonderful, dark-colored 'cluster tomato' that produces perfect globe-shaped fruit that have smooth shoulders and are borne in clusters of 3-6 tomatoes! They are aromatic and have sweet, meaty flesh that has a rich taste. Another tomato that is superb for marketing and a must for every garden; simply lovely. This variety came to the USA from our friend, Reinhard Kraft, of Germany.

What are the pros? Prolific, Fast Grower, Uniform

What are the cons? Taste

Review:

I find the description to be a little misleading. I had high hopes for a great tasting tomato, but this really was not it. The taste is rather generic, not anything like the sweet and rich flavor described. Although the taste was nothing to brag about, the plants themselves were. They required very little upkeep and flourished. The plants are very productive, as well as fast growing. The fruits are very crack resistant and have a pretty uniform round shape.

What are the pros? prolific, easy

What are the cons? flavor, died early

Review:

After reading all the other rapturous reviews, I'm willing to admit I could have done something wrong, but I just wasn't very impressed with the flavor of these tomatoes. They produced prolifically -- and were some of the few full-size tomatoes I could count on in this horrible-for-tomatoes year -- but they tasted cardboard-y to me -- rather like a store-bought tomato -- not like I expected a homegrown black tomato to taste. (Blacks are usually my favorites.) Also, these were the first of (many) plants to succumb to fungus/mildew/blight. It was an odd gardening year, though, so I'm certainly willing to try them again next year.

Review:

This variety did very well in a hot Central Valley, CA summer. Dark-leaved plants stayed lush-looking longer than most other varieties. Tomatoes were smaller than the typical Roma, darker than pictured with green shoulders, no cracking. Great flavor.

Review:

Grows seven to eight feet tall. Be prepared to stake early on. The tallest tomatoe wire cage is not adequate for support. Good tasting. This is characteristic of all the black tomatoes I've tried.

Review:

This tomato I have grown for a couple years. Mine are darker than the photo shown and are the size of about a raquetball. Taste is incredible. In our cold summer this last year it produced earlier than it did in the previous hot summer. at 75 days I was getting ripe tomatoes, and was right up to freezing out. Incredibly productive. Wonderful taste, Incredible dark burgundy sauces from it.
