Outredgeous Lettuce

Quite possibly the reddest lettuce variety known! Harvest as a leaf lettuce or allow to grow until the loose, Romaine-type heads develop—either way, it lends an "outrage" of red to salads or sandwiches. So pretty in the garden, too! Another Frank Morton selection.

What are the pros? The taste is amazing

What are the cons? none

Review:

This is now one of my favorite leaf lettuce varieties. The taste was great, the plant held well even in the early heat and didn't bolt fast. We are in the Northeast but my lettuce bolts very quickly. This also grew back after several cuttings and was not tough.

Review:

Grew this lettuce last year in combo with dill, pole beans, and cucumbers. Started by breaking off leaves, and ended up pulling the whole plant at the end of July - still crispy and nonbolting. Combined it with the Australian yellow which is my all-time favorite. Don't know if we timed it just right heat-wise, but this combination of veggies was phenomenal. Excellent lettuce, especially if I take my time chopping everything small- all favors release simultaneously. Used it instead of bread/wraps making lunch rollups . It kept very well in the fridge, set into a narrow bowl with a small amount of water - like a large bouquet. Growing it again this year. Highly recommend.

Review:

We liked this lettuce as much if not more than buttercrunch. We planted the entire packet and had more than enough to eat. We will be growing this again.
