What are the cons? None

Review:

These grow very well here in SW Arkansas. Very tasty. My girls love to snack on them raw and they make an excellent pot of Hoppin' John!

What are the pros? Fast, so easy, and tasty

What are the cons? nothing

Review:

I have grown Red Ripper, Mayo Colima, and Razorback, and Razorback was the most productive. It was definitely faster than 90 days, and produced two big flushes of peas with ongoing smaller production in between. Planted in late July, first harvest by the end of August, produced until the first frost after a second big flush in October. I like this variety better than Red Ripper (also very productive) because it is easier to shell. Pods seem to dry down better than Red Ripper with no sticky little papery bits to pick out. To top it all off, it made a spectacular Hoppin' John! I had a 4x6 plot of them and they made over 2 pots worth of peas with more to save for seeds.

What are the pros? Beautiful foliage

What are the cons? Vines

Review:

Mass planted in garden among other plants. Regret very much not setting up a trellis for these. Going to save seed anyway.

What are the pros? yields heavily

What are the cons? none

Review:

This year I started a new 3x20 foot bed. I filled it with peat moss, bags of WalMart soil, and cow manure from my Dad's farm. Not expecting to get much out of a newly established bed, I decided to experiment with cowpeas by enriching my soil for next year. On cattle panels, I planted black crowder, Ozark razorback, purple hull, red ripper, and top pick. All varieties of these varieties covered my panels, with black crowder and purple hull climbing less than the others.I froze a few gallon bags and harvested a quart of dry seed. Out of the five Ozark yielded the most. I will be starting over with fresh Ozark peas next year. Now if are football program could get on the same page.

What are the pros? Pretty, germinates well

What are the cons? Small pea

Review:

I sure thought these were a bush pea as I planted them alongside the Holstein peas also from Baker Creek. Both were fast to germinate and then slow to produce, but when they did, I found myself stepping over vines and running for the trellises! I planted 100 seeds total in an 8 x 12 ft. block and watched as they took over and proceeded to 'stake out' territory over the rest of the garden. I planted 3rd week of April and have been harvesting for about 2 weeks so far with no end in sight. (Aug 9) They're all over the place! They are beautiful-looking peas.
