70 days. Stunning Batavian type is lavishly splashed in vibrant bronze-purple. Lovely enough for the flower bed, or even as a subject for a still-life painting! Mild, crisp and juicy, and very slow to bolt. Batavian lettuces are heading types, and yield heads midway between the tight heads of a crisp head and the loose heads of a leaf type.

What are the pros? Crisp, tasty, easy to grow

What are the cons? small heads, but my fault

Review:

This is my first year growing this. I don't normally grow head lettuces, but decided to give it a try. The heads of mine are small, but when I tried it I couldn't believe the flavor and crispness of it. It blew my leaf lettuces out of the park. I think I'm to blame for the small heads because I didn't get my spring garden planted as early as I should have. The leaves are pretty colors too. I live in northeastern Oklahoma and the weather gets hot pretty quick here, but this lettuce is holding up great with our 80's temps so far this June. The leaf varieties I have are starting to bolt and getting bitter. I will definitely be planting more this fall.
