80 days. One of the truly great Hungarian peppers. Yellow, flat, ribbed, pumpkin-shaped fruit have the tremendous flavor that peppers from Hungary are famous for. The flesh is very thick, crisp and juicy. This rare variety was collected at a farmers’ market in Matrafured, Hungary, but developed at Szentes, Hungary. A winning variety.

What are the pros? Sturdy plant

What are the cons? Slow to germinate

Review:

Overall this is a great little pepper. Good, smooth, sweet taste. Peppers have pretty thick walls which hold up well to grilling or roasting. Planted six cells of seeds in mid-April and it took about 10-12 days for germination. That being said, it didn't do anything terribly special other than setting them on top of the refrigerator where it is sort of warm. Out of the six cells I only ended up planting one plant in my small garden and gave the rest away. It only ended up being about 14 inches tall but my goodness, I've already picked a few peppers off and there are at least 10 just starting to get some color, hopefully it keeps producing because I love these little cuties.

What are the pros? Wondrful dried sweet paprika

What are the cons? hard to grow

Review:

My wife's favorite for her pizza pepper. As a dried sweet paprika, (it's main purpose), it has no equals. It takes a mild alder smoke very well. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have much luck with the plants. They start slow and don't seem to acclimate as well as other Eastern European varieties to Oregon weather. My meager annual crops are just enough for Paddy's demands

What are the cons? none

Review:

A nice little pepper. Plenty of peppers throughout the season. Will grow again for something different. Really enjoyed them stuffed due to their size and shape. Nice flavor.

What are the pros? Easy and early

What are the cons? none

Review:

Very easy to grow, early, and productive. I've grown them for 2 years and of my 12 or so sweet varieties, they are the first to produce. These are relatively small peppers, good for eating raw and in salads. Nice sweetness. I'll grow them again.
