What are the pros? Flavor, colors, uses.
What are the cons? None
So far this is the best squash I've ever grown.
When the squash is young ,it has richer flavor and firmer texture than most summer squash. When the fruit is ripe, though it does not taste as sweet as pumpkins, still good enough for our Chinese stew pumpkin. Another surprise is the hard rind of the ripe fruit, that I must use an ax to open it. I thought this may be a good candidate for container squash and tried to cut open one carefully then microwave the whole squash . After scooped out all the flash, the rind remained thick and intact. The fruits are so beautiful for containers. I will try my best to find ways to dry them for craft uses.
