What are the pros? Rich and intense flavor
What are the cons? Eat quickly, not a keeper
This tomato was bland early in the season, and then this wonderful, robust old fashioned tomatoey flavor emerged. Although the plant has a compact and bushy disposition, it pumped out lots of tomatoes (<20) which seemed to ripen almost at the same time much like a determinant.
We had one record setting hot day which reached 110 F and several of the near ripe fruits cooked and liquified on the vine, but the tomatoes remained intact. I can't complain because the resulting juice was amazing.
This would make an excellent salsa tomato due to the intensity and richness. This is not a sweet tomato, however the flavor is outstanding.
The added bonus is the beauty of these tomatoes with metallic striping.
