What are the cons? Cabbage Moths
This cabbage grows to unbelievable sizes in good soil. I started seeds indoors, then transplanted as early as I could. The plants were very tolerant of the early spring cold weather (wet snows and light frost), and the heads ...just..keep..growing! I harvested the last monster in November, and have been fond of boiling the finely cut cabbage in bacon (with some grease), olive oil, x2 bay leaves and 1 bottle of beer!
I had some issues with cabbage moths this year, and hope to remedy the issue next season with a chili powder garlic spray.

Was given free seeds by Baker Creek Seed Co., so I grew one of these cabbages. It weighed 16 pounds and the interior is incredibly dense. What a great cabbage! And this is in our short season, Zone 3 climate.

Made a large batch of sauerkraut with these this year and it was delicious. I have grown these for several years and they have always been good, I use them pretty much anyway you can use cabbage, in soups, fried, kraut, and it freezes well also.

I've planted late flat Dutch cabbage for years, using it in salad, fried, pickled, and sauerkraut. It's a favorite for us and today, January 6, I cooked some and it's still crisp and delicious. Definitely a must for my garden.
