(Chenoppodium quinoa) 90-120 days. 3 to 5-foot tall plants are smothered in frothy masses of cream-to-pink flower heads. Dazzling enough for the most elegant border (or illicit, front-yard garden!) but eminently practical, like all quinoas, for greens or grain.

What are the pros? Fast growing, beautiful colors

What are the cons? None

Review:

These plants were a breeze to grow and a great conversation piece for an urban rooftop garden. Seeds germinated quickly using a cold frame in March, grew well to six inches in small containers, absolutely exploded to nearly five feet once transplanted into a 30 gallon planter box, and were ready to harvest by the first week of July..The eight plants I grew had seed heads ranging from peach tones to an almost psychedelic deep pink. The plants that trended toward the redder side produced an absolutely spectacular change of color as they matured. I ended up with slightly over a pound of grain, but I assumed up front that a container planting might be less than ideal. I might not grow these again next year, but I would recommend them to anyone with a yard or with kids interested in gardening. They are fascinating plants that literally grow before your eyes.

What are the pros? 7 ft tall plants, lots of seed

What are the cons? none really

Review:

1st time growing. plants start off slow, but once they reached a foot tall, they exploded. My tallest plants are now over 7 feet tall with huge seedheads. Pretty plants, I get lots of compliments and comments on them. we are having a really mild summer, not sure if they'd be doing so well if we had consistant 90 degree days. The leaves are actually really tasty and have more iron than spinach.
