The amazing edible-podded radish, this variety produces loads of tender, large seed pods that add a delicious flavor to salads and stir-fries, also superb pickled. We have collected seed in Thailand for this old Asian heirloom that was grown in US gardens in the 1860s. A real gourmet treat.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, VERY productive

What are the cons? Almost

Review:

I grew these for the first time this year mostly out of curiosity. WOW!! First, I LOVE the taste. They're good for eating by themselves, and mixed in salads. I've given some away, and a friend said, "Those are great! Everyone is asking, 'Where did he get the seeds for these?'" Second, VERY productive! I've picked WAY more than we can possibly eat in meals and snacks. I'm pickling a lot now, and that will probably be our salvation. My wife told me, "Maybe you shouldn't have planted so many." I told her, "Well, I know that NOW!" I had no idea how prolific they are. I'm planting them again, for sure.

What are the cons? none

Review:

Grew these for the first time this year. Planted about 10 plants. All came up healthy and strong. Each has so many raddish pods I can't give them out fast enough. These taste exactly like a regular raddish but with a tiny extra little kick. The butterflies love the flowers of these plants.

What are the pros? Grows like a weed, reseeds

What are the cons? plant is not very pretty

Review:

This review is about rat tail radish in general. Thanks for offering these. This plant grew wild in an abandoned farm field near my childhood home. I always thought it was a weedy radish relative but to find out it was a crop-wow. I can tell you it reseeds itself and requires no care. The field got no water, no fertilizer and for all the years till they replaced the field with apartments, this radish grew like a weed. I wish I knew to save the seeds but am glad someone did. It's not a pretty plant but it's a dear plant to me, bringing back memories of walking to school and playing farm.

What are the pros? Great taste, ease of picking

What are the cons? None

Review:

This plant is amazing! If you love radishes, but hate having to keep planting them all season long, then this is your plant. The pods are delicious and taste just like, if not better, than radishes. I have not cooked them, but just eat them right off the plant. We put them in salads and will plant them yearly. Great garden choice, tasty and pretty. If left in the same spot, they will reproduce easily. Really love this plant.
