What are the pros? Strong flavor
What are the cons? Small Yield
I planted over a dozen of these and only 4 made it to maturity. The 4 I did get were delicious! So, I'll try again next year...maybe it was our cooler temps or they didn't get the right sun.

What are the pros? Versatile
What are the cons? None
No problems growing this variety - even in our record breaking high temps this summer. Because of it's mild flavor, we have used the "Red of Florence" Onion in many different ways. They are easy to slice because of their oblong shape. They were excellent in our bread & butter pickles, refrigerator pickles, salads, sandwiches, etc... very versatile!! Highly recommend.

We planted these on a lark and they did wonderfully. We got beautiful scallions and great tasting, beautiful onions. They were somewhere between a traditional red onion and a typical scallion, which made them nice in salads and on sandwiches. They just grew so easily without any pests bothering them (and we had lots of pests this year). I will definitely be growing these again.
