What are the pros? Productive and colorful

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

This was a gift package with my last seed order (or the one before last, I'm not sure). Regardless, exceptional germination rate, and a gorgeous, gorgeous wine color, along with a phenomenal growth rate. It may not be as showy as my curly lettuces, but it's a workhorse of a plant, resisting 90s temperatures, exploding into growth with good rain, and with that nice romaine taste and crunch.

Review:

Baker Creek threw this seed packet in for free for another purchase I made. I grew it between kale and spinach in my salad garden. From the first baby leaves, this became my favorite in the garden. Soft, light, delicate. Sometimes a little bitter in a pleasant way, but such a nice salad green. I used to pick all three types of plants at once for a blend: kale, romaine, and spinach. I'd find myself sneaking out to pick just the romaine so I could *indulge* in a 100% romaine salad. Yes, it's that good. Highly recommended. Will be growing again and again!

Did great in my Tucson, Arizona winter garden. The more I thinned the larger they grew. Direct seeded and easy to grow.

What are the pros? Lots of lettuce

What are the cons? Sometimes bitter

Review:

We got this lettuce as a free gift last year. We planted it in partial shade near our squash plants and got a ton of lettuce. We gave bags and bags of it to our friends, who said they liked the taste, look and texture. If eaten too soon after picking the flavor was kind of bitter, so we started rinsing it and putting it in the fridge for a day or two. It tasted great after waiting. It was also, unfortunately, the same color as squash bugs and they decided it was a nice place to hide- although they didn't eat it. So, don't plant it near your squash if you are having trouble with squash bugs.
