The name reputedly refers to the peppers' outrageous heat, capable of flavoring seven successive pots of chili! Intense heat (upward of 1,000,000 scovilles) and an accompanying fruitiness, characterize this relative of the Scorpions and the Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia). Fruits ripen to a wrinkled, deep red. The shape sometimes, but not always, shows the infamous scorpion "tail." We believe this to be the prized Barrackapore strain, named for a town of the same name in Trinidad, home to so many super-hot pepper varieties. That makes this the original Seven-pot strain. As such, the shape is quite variable. Our foundation seed comes from James Weaver of Kutztown, PA.
