Join us for talks, workshops, lectures, and more! Our full schedule of events is posted on the Events Tab of our Facebook Page (Petaluma Seed Bank). Doors open 30 minutes before statrt time for evening events. Here’s our regularly scheduled events:

 

First Thursday of every month:

Lecture Series with the Sonoma County Master Gardeners. Each month is a different topin on gardening, and is always sure to educate, inform, and even entertain you. Past topics have included composting, monarch butterflies, irrigation, life in the soil, and dealing with gophers.

 

Second Tuesday of every month:

Gardener’s Bookclub. This curated bookclub reads and discusses a different gardening, sustainability, or food related book every month, with a fun follow up activity each meeting. Nominal materisals fee is voluntary, but greatly appreciated. 6:00pm – 8:00 pm

 

Second week of each month:

Robert Kourik Series on Roots. An author and expert on roots, Robert presents a range of information each month, including Sustainable Tree Care, Garden Myths, California native Plants, Fungi, Fruit Nut & Veggie Roots, Drip Irrigation, Soiles for Rose, and Dynamic Accumulators. Free. 6:00pm – 8:00 pm

 

Last Wednesday of every month:

Veg-Curious Meeting. Join a varied roster of speakers discussing vegan and vegetarian concepts and issues. Delicious nibbles and recipes make it fun to explore a plant-based diet in a friendly and non-aggressive atmosphere. Free. 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

 

January/April/July/October on the Second Sunday

Bonsai Talk, Beginner’s Workshop, and Maintenance Class:

Donald Hoisington and Bullseye Bonsai present a quarterly series on the ancient art of bonsai. In the morning it’s a presentation on the history of bonsai. 10:00am

Stay for the beginner’s workshop, where Donald will walk you through the entire process of creating your own bonsai, which you will take home with you! $30 materials fee. 12:30pm

In the afternoon, bring in your bonsai from home for a maintenance workshop, and Donald will help you prune, repot, or shape your bonsai. $12 materials fee. 3:00pm
