What are the pros? it is true rice seed
What are the cons? daylength sensitivity
First, I want to say that it is very exciting to see a seed company offering rice seed. Baker Creek deserves praise for offering this seed. Unfortunately, this rice will not flower for me, even though I planted very early. I believe it has serious day length sensitivities. I live 44 degrees North whereas Tennessee is 34 degrees North and Belize is 17 degrees North. If you live more than 34 degrees North, I wouldn't even try to grow this rice. Also, "Blue Bonnet" is an old cultivar available in some seed banks. This is probably not a "traditional rice grown by native Mayan people". Rice was domesticated in Asia and is a recent introduction to the Americas in any case.
