What are the pros?
What are the cons?
Just picked my first Riddle fruit. A very variable little melon. Each of my plants has a different color fruit. This first melon was less than half a pound and a white one. Texture like apple and the tast is sweet and dry. Very pleasant even though it was not juicy. The only down-side is the large seed cavity. They show ripeness with a light color change and softening of the flower end. Took 90 days from germination till first ripe fruit but this is an unusually slow year for all my melons so I expect it would be a lot earlier in a normal year. The plants hated hot weather and looked awful after a week of hot, dry winds but had better production than most this year in my plot. Plants are only averaging three fruits per plant but they are still setting fruit as the older ones are ripening so they are doing better than many with our unusually dry summer. Small vines, good for small areas. Can't wait to taste the rest as they ripen and I will plant it again next spring.
