What are the pros? Good sized tomatillos

What are the cons? Not as prolific as I thought

Review:

I LOVE growing tomatillos. I can them and use throughout fall and winter, and love making fresh salsa during the summer. These tomatillos did moderately well. Very tall and bushy as I did tie them upright, and they flopped around, drooped, and pulled down their lines, which made it difficult to navigate through and pick. I think I'm going to use a heavy gage fencing to tie them up with next season. They set blooms left and right and produced a ton of small fruit, smaller than I expected. Mulched my entire garden heavily with fresh oak chips as I'm in droughtastic California, only having to water 1-2 days per week. I've grown tomatillos before and have had more than I know what to do with. These just did okay. Flavor is good but they're small. I had enough to eat fresh, can, and to feed the local rat population... ew.

What are the pros? Sturdy, Lots of produce

What are the cons? Needs to be staked

Review:

I never knew it was so easy to grow tomatillos. I love making Mexican food, and tomatillos are an essential ingredient in so many salsas. I would always buy them at the store. When I saw that I could grow them here, I decided to give them a try. I literally did not have to do anything. The plant grew like crazy, and I was overjoyed when I started to see the classic lantern shade husks appear. I will definitely be planting more of these this year.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, tastes great!

What are the cons? none

Review:

I grew about 7 of these plants in 2013 and they turned out great! My soil was not rich enough, so the plants did not reach full potential, but I still had a lot of green tomatillos and they continued production as I harvested.
