80 days. Lovely 8”x4” neon, lavender-pink fruits have a mild, sweet, white flesh. The skin is tender, and not bitter. Produces excellent yields. This incredible heirloom was developed in Puerto Rico in the 1940’s by the Puerto Rico Agric. Expt. Sta., Rio Piedras. One of our favorites every season.

What are the pros? Prolific, few seeds

What are the cons? none

Review:

I have grown these beauties in large containers. You need to stay on top of watering, and they are heavy drinkers. I usually had five fruits on a single plant at a time. While eggplant need extra care for insects, these did well with just an organic spray. The flavor is great, and they are not prone to get seedy, unless you let them get extra large. With growing four different varieties in a year, this plant in a mainstay for me.

What are the pros? taste color

What are the cons? none

Review:

Beautiful flawless color. Delicious sweet mild taste. I have a large collection of eggplant seeds, but will only grow Rosita and Malaysian Red 2014. I find the Italian eggplants to be the best.

What are the pros? Great Yield

What are the cons? None

Review:

Nice compact plants, very hardy. They even held up through a very late frost we had in May--some damage to the leaves, but they came right back. Produced tons of fruits, and so pretty.

What are the pros? Delicious white flesh

What are the cons? None

Review:

I planted these a bit late, and to be honest, that was just fine because after all the other stuff had stopped producing, the rosita started to put out a LOT. I had a minor mealy bug problem, but they ended up producing beautiful fruit! I cannot express my dislike for the bitter eggplants that grace the produce aisles of every grocery store. I planted another eggplant and ended up throwing all the eggplants away because they tasted beyond bitter! The rosita was pure white inside and has a creamy delicate flavored flesh! There were several on the plant that succumbed to the frosty temps we had in November, but overall this was fantastic!
