What are the pros? pretty lil' thing

What are the cons? Doesn't taste like much

Review:

Have a lot of herbs, got this one to round out my collection. Looked forward to a cuke-like taste to add to salads, which didn't happen. No taste (maybe because of my clay soil?) Mine are petite things with pretty little leaves. The plant seems to bloom most of the spring/summer with nondescript flowers. Reproduces steadily - it is acting more like an ankle-high ground cover right now, so I leave it. Maybe it will outrace the ground ivy, it is certainly hardy. Doesn't seem to bother anyone, and it may attract beneficials to my garden.

What are the pros? Tasty, easy

What are the cons? Will probably never leave

Review:

I enjoyed this herb. Burnet was tasty; older stems were not good eats, but pulling the leaves off was pretty easy and young shoots were tasty. However as summer rolled on and the lettuces and other salad greens departed, the burnet stuck around. And grew. And sent down taproots. And let me tell you, I just cleared out the summer garden to make way for winter, and this stuff does NOT come out without a serious fight. You may have burnet for life. Fair warning.

What are the pros? sweet herb

What are the cons? hard to save seed

Review:

This is a versatile herb: looks good, taste good, long lasting grow period (biennial). Grows in containers, straight sun, partial shade. Sad when I'm out of greens. Stems can get wood/stringy if not watered often of left to full maturity. Eat heartily and will not have this problem! Use as cut and come salad green.

What are the pros? Fairly easy to grow

What are the cons? Too stemmy, flavor not great

Review:

This grew just fine in our Virginia summers. We just didn't like it. The stems are a bit tough, and it's fiddly to get the small leaves off.
