What are the pros? sweet herb

What are the cons? hard to save seed

Review:

This is a versatile herb: looks good, taste good, long lasting grow period (biennial). Grows in containers, straight sun, partial shade. Sad when I'm out of greens. Stems can get wood/stringy if not watered often of left to full maturity. Eat heartily and will not have this problem! Use as cut and come salad green.

What are the pros? Fairly easy to grow

What are the cons? Too stemmy, flavor not great

Review:

This grew just fine in our Virginia summers. We just didn't like it. The stems are a bit tough, and it's fiddly to get the small leaves off.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, taste great

What are the cons? none

Review:

These seeds were strewn on a patch of soil just before our last frost and forgotten about. We have lots of little seedlings popping up and growing quickly. I love the taste; slightly bitter, cucumber and lemon flavor, great for munching on. Hopefully we can get them to survive the winter, if not they will be a staple herb in our gardens from now on.

What are the pros? Resilient

What are the cons? Tastes nasty

Review:

I wonder if my seed batch was tainted. I thought I killed them early on but they reseeded themselves and bounced back. They overwintered with no problem and are green now in mid-february But they taste so bad that I can't stand to eat them. I like to eat kale raw, and lettuce and almost everything else, but not this. So sad I was eager to have a cucumber-tasting plant! Maybe I will give them one more year and see if they improve this year. Our soil is very clay; maybe that changed the flavor.
