What are the pros?
What are the cons?
Over the years I came up to the following conclusion: regardless where I live in the USA - there are 3 varieties A MUST FOR ME; SARAH BLACK, CARBON, TRUE BLACK BRANDYWINE. Tried many other blacks but these 3 were always great tasting and very prolific. Also, these three varieties have similar taste (at least to my taste buds) that I love.

I planted this tomato because of the earlier harvest date, as well as the black brandywine. This tomato outperformed the brandywine in production numbers, and the taste was every bit as good. It is a slightly smaller tomato than the brandywine, but smoother, and a very good slicer! Excellent taste!

I grow for a local farmers market and added Sara Black to my line up about three years ago. It not only is my favorite tomato, but the customers go crazy over it. It tastes great, is very attractive, is productive, and keeps well. Size varies from baseball size up to over a pound. The only problem I have had is sunscald.

These tomatoes, tho I set them out late, bore fairly well--and what yummy tomatoes! Also, no matter if I left them out on my countertop too long or on the vine too long, they did not go sour on me (like, say, Green Zebras are prone to doing). And they have an unusual, piquant flavor that I loved!
