(Linum grandiflorum rubrum) Often self-sows. This species can be grown in hot and dry conditions. The plants produce loads of lovely, scarlet-red flowers. This plant is native to southern Europe and northern Africa. A hardy annual.

What are the pros? Easy. Vibrant.

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

All Flax varieties are my favorite, but this one really stands out well, especially in a dry landscape and with blue flax and the bright eyed variety. No one else seemed to have mentioned this, but I noticed a nice fragrance on my Scarlet Flax. I guess I just have a habit of smelling flowers.

What are the cons? Take up a lot of space.

Review:

I loved these this year. They are easy to grow and there are still some blooms appearing now at the end of October. They are a gorgeous dark pink colur and they looked striking in the garden with the blue larkspur.

What are the pros? Cheap and brightly coloured.

What are the cons? Narrow plants

Review:

These are beautiful in the garden right now. We are having a very dry season and these flowers are doing well. They look nice on their own but I also have some growing interspersed with blue larkspur and the colour combination is gorgeous.
