Sheep's Sorrel

(Rumex acetosella) Perennial to 1.5 feet tall-- Often called field sorrel or red sorrel. Tangy, tart leaves make a delicious early-spring green, and come at a time when little else is available in the garden. Lemony leaves are also used as a garnish, in salads, or in place of rennet for making cheese. Tolerates poor, sandy or acid soil. Remove seed heads, confine behind barrier set 8" deep to keep it within bounds. (Cannot be shipped to Connecticut.)
